Books, Dinners, Sweets and Music ....

Getting into this writing lark.

Have a number of people reading my longer novel, A Hunter's Heart,  and the feedback so far is very good.  Really happy, 75000 words is a lot and if no-one liked it I would have been disappointed.

Dragged out some other partly finished ones, some I deleted and a couple have possibilities.  Started writing an anthology of short stories all set in a BDSM club, the book is called The Club.

Have finished three each with around 10,000 words, and my test readers have given me the thumbs up for them also.  If anyone reading this blog enjoys Erotic Paranormal Romances or Alternative Lifestyle Romance Erotica please send me an email as I am looking for more guinea pigs to give me feedback.  At the moment I have 10 people reading 'A Hunters Heart' - waiting patiently for their feedback.  I will also need readers for 'The Club'.

Drop me an email if you are interested with the words 'Guinea Pig Reader' as the subject ..... lol.  But remember only if you enjoy and the read the genres mentioned above.                                     sooziii@optusnet.com.au

Looking into publishing them as ebooks rather than hard copies.  It works out cheaper; packages start at $150 and go to $650.  Of course, if I can find a publisher who will accept them that will save all my problems.

Finally turning the corner on illness. I am actually feeling much better, about 85% and each day is better than the one before, although I did have to go back to the Docs today (Saturday) - more drugs :(

Had a coffee date the other day, then dinner and then a second dinner with a very nice man.   But I am not sure I will take it any further, too many differences and not much in common, it is nice to have differences but you do need some common ground and to be honest there really wasn't much.  Still it was lovely to get out and have some normal conversation with someone other than my cats and dog.

Haha knowing my luck it will be my last dinner date for the rest of the year ....... :) .... but who cares?

Still going crazy for jellies; weird I know.  I usually go crazy for chocolate but amazingly I have had a box of maltesers in the fridge since Christmas day and have only eaten a couple.  Normally I adore sweets and they would be gobbled up in a few hours.  Still I imagine my craving for sweets will return.

Lets be honest, a girl can live without a lot of things but chocolate is definitely not on that list for me.

Finally got all my music from my computer onto my Ipod; now I have to tackle the 150 CDs that are in my car.  Amazing what a long job it is; of course it doesn't help that I keep finding other music I like to add on.  Thank goodness I bought the Ipod that had 160gb; that should keep me happy.

Got the soundtracks from all the Cirque de Soleil acts, fabulous music and also managed to get my hands on the complete Beatles discography.

PS - wonder if anyone notices the subliminal message in the post title?  It is the initials covering the subject of the second book....lol.  Didn't realise it until I went to post.

Drugs, Done ......

Well, think I am finally getting better - a little anyway.  Yesterday was the first day since 30th Dec that I haven't spent part of it in bed.  Onto my 3rd lot of drugs; finally think they are working.  This morning I had to venture out to refill the scripts but at least I don't feel as bad.

Raced into the supermarket while the chemist was doing his thing and grabbed some milk, bread .... and some packets of jelly crystals - I have had this craving for jelly and only had a couple of very old out of date packs at home ...lol.

Haven't done much except sleep and watch a few things on the idiot box; must be ill because I can go months without turning the stupid thing on .... lol.

Did manage to get the first edit done on my novel; have a friend reading it for me and waiting (im)patiently for her verdict - do I continue or do I throw it in the bin.

If she says do another edit I will be very excited - then will find a few other people to read it.  Just a matter of finding people who read the genre - Erotic Paranormal Romance - lol.

So people who love Christine Feehan, J R Ward, Katie MacAllister and the like - basically it is 50 shades meets spooky paranormal stuff except it is only 40 shades ..... rotfl.  Still trying to come up with a good title .... A Hunter's Heart is just a working one unless I can't think of anything better.

Went through all my other partly written novels and decided that of the dozen there is really only a couple that have any bones of a reasonable story.  The one I have now finished is written in such a way that there can be more with a similar themes just different characters.

Been planning some more artworks ... a portrait and some more self studies.    Which is good, my paints have been sitting idle since last year ...lol.

So finger's crossed that at last I am over the worst and back in the land of the living!

Exciting News .......

So excited!!!!!

Woke up this morning to the news I had won a competition with my painting of an old lock and now it will be the cover of the February issue of Garden Tripod magazine and featured inside!

This was the Challenge - Locks, Keys or Gates

  • Be creative .. Still life or landscape .. Locks .. Keys .. Gates …
  • If it’s not obvious .. Do put details in the description …
  • Remember this is a garden group, so some garden or garden objects must be shown
I have send out a big thank your to Nicole Parker Lamarre from the Photo-a-Day group for giving me permission to use her wonderful photograph.

If that doesn't make me feel better nothing will ..... lol.

Doctor ..... who????

Well I have started the New Year in fine form - been rather ill since the 31st, in fact been in bed since then.  Finally felt well enough, even still very sick, to drive to a doctor on Saturday.  My own doctor was still closed so had to just find anywhere that was open.

Nice looking young femal doctor, she asked me my syptoms, etc and then proceeded to give her diagnosis - "you are sick."

DUH!

So 10 years or more of medical training to tell me something even my grandkids could have!  Anyway, she wrote out scripts for drugs and I made it home without crashing.  Tuesday now and I am finally starting to feel a little better, managing to keep down food so whatever she gave me is starting to work.

From now on the only person I want to hear say "I'm the Doctor" is David Tennant.

Just as an aside - my usual doctor battled cancer last year and has cut his workload down, so if I need to see someone and he is not there I see either of his two partners - a husband and wife team.  The husband is David Tan and his wife ...... Doctor Hoo
