Feeling better - been a stressful couple of days.

Doc decided that there was something strange about the pain in my back - where it was and the type of pain plus the fact it has continued for 9 weeks and has not responded to treatment.

He thought that it would be a good idea to have scans as he was concerned there may have been a growth on my spine that was causing all the problems.

I have to admit that it scared me - I have had three brushes with cancer over the years (breast, uterine and melanoma) and in the back of my mind I thought "could I be lucky a fourth time?"

Turns out I could be - no growth!!!!!

Instead three discs are badly degenerated from a car accident I was involved in nearly 30 years ago.  Doc is pretty sure that is what is causing the pain - it is in the same area.  So now I have to have some physio to learn pain management.

He offered cortisone injections but I said no.  I will save that in case years down the track it becomes unbearable.

At least I know what I am dealing with now.

Candles, Chocolate, Cream and Coffee

My birthday - 63 - feeling blah .... lol.

Sun is shining and I am sitting in the sunshine with Fozzie and with Calico in her favourite position wrapped around my neck.

It would have been nice to wake up to lots of presents -maybe some yummy cake, some chocolates and flowers ...

... but instead I had the guy who came to mow the grass on the council strip but I guess we can't have everything in life .... lol.

This is what happens when you don't have people in your life so you make do with what you have, so tomorrow I am going to drive up to Penrith and buy myself some deliciously decadent cake and some equally fattening chocolates and some flowers.

I love Ferrero Roche - like eating a jar of Nutella but with chocolate ... lol.  Yellow roses - beautiful and who could resist a French Vanilla slice?

Or maybe some fresh strawberries and melted chocolate?  Mmmmm

Or better yet... I could drive up to Windsor - there is a little lolly shop there that makes it's own fudge.  It is delicious. I am sure I could find a patisserie around there and somewhere that sells flowers.

If nothing else I could find a nice coffee shop and have a latte and a cake ... lol.

Or I could return via Penrith and head to the Penrith Art Gallery - spend some time looking at their latest exhibit.

Or I could just scrap all the fattening delicious stuff and head up to Falconbridge to the Norman Lindsay Gallery - haven't been there for many years but I do love wandering around the grounds and the Gallery there.

I am supposed to go back to the Drs for more laser treatment on my back but I just don't think it is worth it - after 5 goes it is no better despite the Doc saying it usually only takes 1 or 2.  I am thinking it is arthritis and I will just have to get used to it.

Woke up in the middle of the night with an idea for a new art project - actually a sculpture using plaster bandages (the ones used when you break an arm or a leg) over a framework of wire, newspaper and gaffa tape.  Figured out how to do it in my sleep .... lol .... now I just have to implement the idea in real life.

I often get good ideas when I am asleep and can generally wake up so I remember them.  Occasionally I have rummaged for a pencil and paper to sketch out an idea but usually just waking and recalling it is enough to set it firmly in my head.

Well, the sun has moved from my cosy spot; Fozz has left to find it and Calico has wandered off to nibble on some biscuits so I think I will make myself a coffee and grab my latest book - Karin Slaughter's latest 'Criminal' and go in search of another sunny spot.

Water, Wandering, Warm ....

Have an idea for a painting but need some photos so; providing the weather is suitable (sunny & a little warmer) I intend to drive to the coast to get some pictures of water.  Probably need to get my feet wet as I want the swirling patterns and foam created after a wave breaks and comes into shore.  Hence my need for suitable weather.

This morning it is 5 degrees and no sun; have to hope one day on the weekend is sunny and warmer.  Checked the forecast and rain is predicted until & including the weekend so that is why I am waiting until we have some fine warmer weather to go.  Don't fancy getting my tootsies wet when it is cold, no sun and damp.

At least this time won't be like the last time I went to the coast - drove all over the place (did over 350kms) and ended up hurting my back.  That was 8 weeks ago and I am still suffering .... lol.

Actually having laser treatment on my back a few times a week ... it is slowly starting to work as the pain doesn't kick in until the afternoon now so I get some respite; it is weird after each treatment, the next time I have a shower it gets soooo hot and then stays warm for a while after.

Now that the saga of the tops for the wedding is solved I have a new dilemma - need shoes and a bag.  A bag shouldn't create too many problems as I have seen a few I like in the colour I want (red) but shoes are proving to be as hard to find as the top.

Main reason is I have arthritis in my feet and so can only wear flats or sandals ... can't find anything that is suitable for a wedding in red.  Hell, can't find anything in a pale colour that I could dye even!

I have a pair of silver slingbacks that I could dye but do you think I can find where I put them?  I have only worn them once and they would be great but obviously I have put them carefully away never to be seen again.

What I wish is that I could still wear stilettos (mind you continually wearing them when I was younger is probably why I have - a pair of delicious Christian Louboutin's like these ..... oh yum!!

Instead I will have to settle for a flats - doesn't help that I have big feet either .... rotfl.

I have a friend in New Zealand and remember she found a pair of red flats for a wedding she went to ... hopefully I have as much luck.

Actually if you have some time why not check out her blog - Quilting Orchardist  - it is always interesting - she and her husband have a kiwi fruit and avocado orchard and she often writes great descriptions of how they grow the fruit.

Hairdressers today - sadly the grey comes through quicker and quicker - if I didn't get my hair dyed I would be rather white but instead I chose to go crazy.

Been trying out styles and colours for the wedding but last I went I had planned on wearing my traditional black or purple - now I will have to rethink the colour choices as the dark auburn and purple I had selected looked rather blah with the now infamous red top (at least it did when I held the fabric up against me).

Lisa Kimmerling (me)~January rainbow
So now I shall annoy the hairdresser by telling her I no longer want that colour but now need something that will go with red - I do want to go rainbow but that isn't really suitable for a wedding especially being the mother of the groom .... rotfl.

I have very short hair now and at the moment one side is cropped very very short while the other has a little length.  So the shaved side is usually coloured in a contrast to the rest of my hair.  Until about 6 years ago I have very long hair, I could sit on it as it reached my mid thighs but it was very aging and when I got it cut I was amazed at the difference it made to my face - actually made me look a lot younger than I am.

Back from hairdresser - went all red - bright vibrant red on shaved side and a mid auburn on the rest.

Once the wedding is over we are going to try rainbow on the shaved side with red at the top blending into red for the rest of my hair - can't wait .... lol

Coffee and Curves and Confusion ....

Whoo hoo - just got a call to say my new glasses are ready - been a good week so far.

Glasses ready, decided to get the top I need made and found a great dressmaker who is also going to bead it, had contact from 2 guys who actually tick a lot of boxes - one looks very cute ... the only downside is he is the same height as me.  Last email from him seemed positive so I guess that a few more will be the telling.

I haven't even made it to the 'coffee stage' with any of my contacts this time around so maybe my luck is about to change; seemed easier to meet people 3 1/2 yrs ago.

The other has suggested a coffee date - the downside with him is his age ... 45 - I may be wrong but I think with an age difference of over 10 or 12 years you are not going to get a long term relationship.

I am 63 in a week or so and I just can't imagine a guy 15 - 20 years younger sticking around when I am in my 70s and he is only in his 50s even if I am a gorgeous mature BBW sex goddess

UPDATE - Mr CoffeeDate ... when I asked him where he thought we could meet for coffee his reply was "anywhere close to either your house or mine then we can go and  f*** as soon as we finish the coffee".

Oh well - back to the drawing board.  Last time I was on  the dating site there were a lot of guys who just were there for the sex but there were also a lot of nice men and I met quite a number.  This time around I just don't get it.

Is it something to do with my age?  Something about my picture?  I just have no idea but I am getting fed up with it all; confused as to why I am only attracting the men who want casual sex. Maybe there just are not any nice great guys out there who fit the bill - you know - between 50 and 65, over 6ft, kinda cute, not married who understand that sex is part of a relationship but at least buy me a coffee and dinner first ..... lmao!

I am not a 'try before you buy' gal .... lol.

In fact I am seriously considering giving up completely. The worst part is I am a loner - I do not have friends except online ... part of being HFA so if I want to go to the movies or a restaurant or a drive I have to go alone.  A drive is fine, even the movies (although you do get some weird looks) but going to a restaurant alone?  No thanks .... rotfl.  It would be wonderful to share the rest of my life with someone but if I don't, I don't .... end of story.

fertility goddess two.jpg
Speaking of Goddesses - I love the fact that ancient Goddesses of fertility were built like me ... lots of curves, bulges and enough love handles to spread around the world.

The classic one we all know is the Willendorf but there is also the Anatolian fromTurkey and Istar the Babylonian Goddess of Fertility.

Yes, you can find a few fertility goddesses in Egypt that are etched into the stone who are very thin but on the whole MOST goddesses who were considered to be a man's most desirable image of a woman would, by today's standard, be considered fat, obese or even morbidly obese.

Now I do not consider myself obese - I consider that I am amply curved ... lol ... and I do know that a great many men prefer a woman who is curved and well padded to those who are not.

The trend for women today is to be a stick figure  - young girls see models and strive for their figures - totally crazy.  They starve themselves trying to achieve what they think is perfection.

Truth is as long as a woman is healthy, eats sensibly and is not obese or morbidly obese and is happy with herself then her figure is perfect for her.

Anatolian fromTurkey

Noticed I have gathered another fan - this time from Toongabbie who seems to like my paintings - well the nude torsos of me at least .....  rotfl.

Finished a commission work for a client and now have nothing on the burner so I have been looking through all my painting ideas to decide what to paint next.

Have a gorilla head, a bears head and a lion's head that all have sparked my interest; then (you'll like this Mr/Ms/Mrs Toongabbie) there is another self nude I have sketched out.  Also have sketched out a rodeo rider on his horse and a walrus.

Not sure which way I will go so any suggestions would be appreciate or even some suggestions that I haven't thought of.

Excited to hear of the possible discovery of the elusive Higgs boson - I have written about it in my Weird, Wonderful and Wacky blog if you share my interest.
