Welcome ....

Welcome to my new blog ... all welcome (even stupid dumb stalkers .... rotfl).

If I don't hit return I get one para but if I do I get a double space between. Its annoying going into the html and deleting the spaces ....

My line break settings are on "Enter" and my HTML is set on interpret so it should not put in a double.

I am so angry at myself for losing them all. When I got my Tablet for Christmas I logged in and set it up and then noticed I had a few thousand pictures in the gallery.  That took up a lot of memory and I realised that the pic were from my blogs.

Did some research and found that all blog photos are stored in Picaso and to remove them from the Tablet I had to go to Picaso and tell it to ignore the tablet.

Yep ... you guessed it ... not only did it ignored the Tablet it ignored the blogs so all my blogs lost all their pictures.

I was upset because a lot of the pics were from many, many years ago and I no longer had them.

Still it was done and I couldn't get them back.Contacted Blogger and followed the instructions they sent me but they didn't work. ... :

Now when I went into what was my main blog it would take forever to load when I wanted to do anything to it so decided a change was due.

Google and other search engines send people to older posts and then they contact me to say I have no pics ...

I will leave the old blog open for a week or so then close it down and hopefully that will end the emails telling me I have no pics .... lol.

Please leave a comment so I know you visited......you know how all bloggers love to read comments!!

Math .....

I consider myself an intelligent woman; I have a very high IQ (passed the Mensa entrance exam ...lol; 149 on the old S&B scale) - I love learning 'stuff', collect all sorts of obscure and trivial information BUT, yes there is always a but .......!!

..... I can't count, do Math, in fact the thought of anything with numbers terrifies me.

Okay, you are probably thinking she is talking about algebra or physics equations .... guess what?  I am talking about basic elementary easy peasy math .... I do know my 2x, my 5x and my 10x tables but that's it; the others in between may just as well not exist.

I can add in a very weird sort of way with reams of paper but anything else I flounder and then sink like a stone.  To me Math is like some obscure language dialect that only a handful of people know and cannot be taught to anyone else because it is so hard.

You probably thinking how the hell did she pass the Mensa test - blitz all the other questions and then the Math ones ... er kinda ....um .......

I am the only person I know who has to count on their fingers to play 21 (only because sitting with a calculator would make me look even more silly).

I saw the pic on the right the other day; a friend had posted it on Facebook and I thought YES, that's right!!  That is exactly what it is like.

I have absolutely no idea where to even start a Math problem.  In high school I studied every subject at Advanced level except for Math ... that I did at the lowest possible and still managed to never score any more than 20 in a test; my usual score was around 10 .... lol.

All my other subjects I managed to keep myself about the class average - being brainy was something that was not encouraged by other students when I went to school so I always held back to make sure that I didn't stand out.  Now I look back with a little regret and wonder what I could have achieved if I hadn't allowed my brains to get in the way .... rotfl.

Anyway, back to numbers.  I even used a number 'thingy' to help me when I get stressed.  I would start at 1 and count in the Fibonacci sequence.  To get into three figures took so much that it made the stress disappear.

I use all sorts of sneaky methods to solve everyday Math problems dealing with money, patchwork, etc so I can hide my 'problem' from the world.  I love to do suduko problems and someone once asked me how could I do them as they are full of numbers .... simple - I don't see numbers 1-9.  Instead I see shapes - triangles, circles, etc and so instead of a Math problem it becomes a logic one.

Unfortunately you can't substitute shapes for numbers in most other things but I have managed to sneak past - of course, now I am out of the closet .... Yes I am a Math failure!!

So do you have a stumbling block with something that others find simple??  Are you prepared to face the world with me and come out of your closet??

Aarrgghh ....

Been thinking ... there are 3 people I know who live or work in the Pennant Hills area - Lyn and Denise who I used to work with and Allan who works/worked at Wenty Leagues ... or - Stuart R Smith.

Gggrrrrr .... stop tormenting me please!!!  I might block you if you don't tell me who you are!!

Mr/Ms/Mrs Pennant Hills - click this link to my email address sooziii & send me an email .....

.............................

Please put me out of my misery.

Each day I think about whether I have anything interesting to blog about that is not too boring and I usually check out my previous posts and see who has visited.

I have worked out who a lot of my regular visitors are but there is one that is driving me insane.

You know who you are ..... Mr/Mrs/Ms Pennant Hills!!!!

Each day and sometimes several times a day someone logs in running on Apple OS X and surfing with Safari, you come in direct so I must be bookmarked; whoever you are Feedjit says you live in Pennant Hills.  Now bear in mind that Feedjit will give a suburb but you could be anywhere in a 30km radius, but you can easily check if it you.

When you log in check out the Feedjit banner on the right hand side - it will show your entry.  You can click the Real Time Menu and it will show a bit more detail.  If you want you can log out then log back in just to confirm it is you.

Now I love seeing visitors - what person who has a blog doesn't but it is so frustrating knowing I have a regular one yet I know absolutely nothing about them.

Are they male, female?  Are they married, single, widowed?  Are they young, old?  Are they as crazy as me?  They live locally to me - have I ever met them?  What do they look like?

So please, please, please - Mr/Mrs/Ms Pennant Hills give me a clue!  Write in the comments section or drop me an email.

Take pity on a poor old lady and stop tormenting me and tell me who you are .... rotfl.

Meandering Post ...

Nothing exciting to report ... had a good afternoon sketching and painting yesterday.  The nude model we had (female) was very good; used her before; she always does some interesting poses and they are usually challenging in some way.  Yesterday was no exception.

1 minute sketch
earlier 1 min sketch
I was able to get down a number of pencil sketches, some monochromatic pastels and 4 quick watercolours.  I looked back at my first sketches from the start of the year and compared them to yesterdays.  I am getting a lot more detail in the short time of each pose.  Look at the difference in the two 1 minute poses.

At first I thought that 1 minute was just ridiculous to even get a few lines in - but now I realise you can get quite a lot done in that short period of time.

I hadn't worked with a live model since the late 60s so it was almost like starting from scratch again.

5 minute watercolour
The same applies to the watercolours - my first attempts were not that successful as I was trying to get too much detail in the short time and so the work was a mess of paint with no definition.  Now I am using the 'less is more' idea and I think it works better.

The other week one of the other artists suggested using our other hand to sketch for the fun of it.

Left hand work
Everyone agreed, some of us hesitant - I have never tried using my left hand - but I have to say I was surprised by my result.  You could actually tell what it was supposed to be .... rotfl.

Today I sketched out two new ideas for art work - one is a giraffe head and the other a bear's head.  Decided I will do the bear first.

But then I had fun (not) trying to tape it (the watercolour paper) to the board.  As fast as I tore off the masking tape and started to put it on the paper/board, one of my cats (Cali) kept ripping it off.  She thought it was a great game until I gave up after throwing away 5 or 6 strips of masking tape that were covered in fur and shredded from her claws.

She was a bit disappointed when I stopped ... she wandered off to lie in the sun streaming through the window when there was no more tape coming.  Once I knew she was away I quickly taped the paper to the board all ready to start.

Just discovered that two of my favourite musicals are coming to Sydney -  A Chorus Line and South Pacific!!

I love them and it would be great to go and see  ... big question - am I brave enough to see them alone?  Am I brave enough to drive myself to the city - haven't driven in Sydney for about 18 years and then it was to skirt by the outside on the way to somewhere else (State Athletics for younger son).

Truth be told - I don't think I can do it .... lol.  Driving somewhere I am not familiar with is too stressful for me, driving in the city is madness - people only do it if they have to .... lol, then sitting there like some desperate person all alone -

I took myself to see one of the Harry Potter movies and you wouldn't believe the weird looks I got because I was alone .... lol.

Guess that was one of the reasons why I wanted to meet a nice guy .... rotfl.

STILL WAITING TO SATISFY MY CURIOSITY .....  who lives in Pennant Hills or around that area, uses Apple and visits this blog usually each day??  Not sure if it is you?  Check the Feedit on the right hand site when you log in and see if it says Pennant Hills.  Can you please leave a message or drop me an email? .... rotfl.

Noticed I have had a couple of visitors from Chile lately - took me back to when I travelled in both places .... back in the early 70s I spent a few days in Chile then 4 weeks in Peru and then an extra week in Santiago, Chile - was only supposed to change planes but got caught up in the Allende revolution and spent a week there, tear gas, water cannon and gun fire ...

Also met a yummy Chilean guy ... wonder what ever happened to him??

Central Coast Excursion ....

.......................................................................

For some unknown and possibly obscure reason the local Electricity supplier decided that they would cut the power to my area from 7am until 5 pm today.

Now there are things I could do at home like paint and read without power BUT I couldn't make a coffee.  To go all day without at least one cup was not worth considering so I decided I would take myself out for the day.

Checked the weather report last night and it said there was going to be a heavy surf with winds around 30 knots so decided to drive up the Central Coast and get some pics of waves crashing.

Left home at 8am and thought it would be a good idea to make a slight detour, only a few minutes, and go to Somersby Falls to see if there was a better flow than when I last went there.

It was about the same but I took a couple of picture while I was there.

Unfortunately, I was so early (about 9.45am) it meant that the sun was in the wrong place so I took pics of some of the smaller falls that the sun had not yet hit.

Still I enjoy the view.  I didn't walk down to the lower falls - it is a very hard walk and I was alone.  I had enough trouble last time I did it and I had someone with me ... lol.

So this time I only went to the top of the falls and to the bottom of the 1st fall.  It is so lovely there; lots of bush turkeys wandering around, frogs croaking, beautiful ferns ...

I intend to go back there after we have had a reasonable amount of rain and hopefully get some photos.

Along the road to the falls there was a stand of liquid ambers - they were lovely.  They ranged in colour from lime green to rich deep reds.

I always find it amazing that you can have the same type of trees alongside each other and yet each is in a different stage of leaf colour.

Next place on the agenda was MacMasters Beach only to discover that the 'dangerous' surf conditions were non existant.

There was almost no wind and the sun was shining, a beautiful day but not the day I was hoping for.  I wanted a heavy surf, crashing into the beach and crashing over the rocks.

Decided I would go to Putty Beach and see if the waves were crashing on the rocks there but was very disappointed.

It was pretty obvious that there was not much of a surf running because there were a lot of rock fishermen out.

Last place to visit was Patonga.  I was hoping to get some pictures of pelicans and maybe do a quick watercolour so drove on.

Parked near one of the boat ramps, and climbed down and was lucky as there were a few pelicans standing on the edge of the ramp.

I took a couple of pictures of them and another landed very close to me on the sand.  He stood there for me to take his picture.

Then some man came along to put his boat in the water and they all flew away.

Decided I would put my camera back in the car and get my sketchbook to do a little painting of the area.  It is pretty and I plonked myself down on a rock and started painting.

I think I was painting for about 10 minutes when one pelican landed at the edge of the water and waddled out toward me.  He was followed by another four.  The five of them came right up to were I was sitting and proceeded to try and stare me down.

I was disappointed that I had put my camera back in the car but realised if I got up I would scare them away.  I forgot about the scenic painting and did some very quick sketches of them.

I am sure they knew what I was up to - they all waddled back and forth, stretched their wings, opened their bills and scratched their heads.

It was so hard trying to get anything down on paper because they were jostling amongst themselves trying to get closer.

After about 10 minutes they realised that I had nothing to feed them with so they waddled back into the water and with one or two backward glances swam off.  Sat looking at the water and enjoying the day for another 20 minutes, wiggling my toes in the sand while I ate an apple.

Think next time I go I will pick up some prawns to feed them, keep my camera with me and hopefully I get some good close up photographs.

These are the times you wish you had someone to share the day with, especially the magic of the pelicans - but at least I took myself out.

Ended up I did about 150kms (300 round trip) but it was a lovely day.  Called into local Maccas for a coffee and to relax a little before getting home about 3.30pm.  Luckily the power came back on just before 4.

Tired now from all the driving and my right knee is a bit tender from both driving and climbing up and down stairs.  Sore neck but overall feel good.

The 'A' is Blacktown where I live & the the yellow dotted line was my trip.
