Abi ....

My beautiful grand daughter had the day in hospital today - she is having a mould taken of her eye ... a very stressful day for her Mum and Dad; scary stuff for us all -Mum, Dad, both grand mums and her grand father.

Abi has Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous (PHPV) so is blind in the right eye. Her specialist is going to take a mould of the eye to cast a form which will be put into the eye for a period of time each day to stretch the socket.

At this point in time they (the specialists) are happy with the eye. This is so the socket/eye grows in relation to the other eye. When she is older she can have a coloured contact to match the other eye if she likes.

Just got a text message from her Mum and Daddy to say the op was all over and things went well.

We can all breathe a sigh of relief and now wait until they make the cast so the next phase can begin.

Please leave a comment so I know you know how all bloggers love to read comments!!

  1. She's lovely. I do hope she copes with taking things in and out of her eye. It is never easy as far as eyes are concerned they are very sensitive things...even for adults.
I hope you are well and coping okay.
    Hugs Ali.

  2. Abi is adorable. Just not right for a child to go thru these things. Bless her heart!
